September 2011

I got out some play dough for the kids while Mary Ann and Kacey helped Jamie organize one afternoon.
Dave got a job!!  He is working for US AirWays in Tempe AZ. He is an analyst for the airlines, analyzing the feasibility of putting in a call center or something like that.  They love the benefits like free flying, health care and retirement, etc.  Dave moved down the last part of Aug and found a house for them to rent.  He flew back and they loaded everything up in a large moving  van.   I decided to drive down with Jamie to help with the kids and driving.  We had a great trip except the delay at Hoover Dam.  Jackson and Hallie were so good in the car. We were so blessed because Tyler and Kacey had a dinner ready for us when we got to Mesa.  It was especially fun because Ryan, Mary Ann and their 2 kids were there also.  Ryan just happened to be working in Phoenix that week so Mary Ann came to visit a friend.
Walking along the Tempe Beach one evening.  How fun to be with six of the 7 grandkids!

The only family that didn't move this summer was Ryan and Mary Ann.  They did come to Utah and I got to help tend Dayton and Afton.  We went out to our garden and picked one of the large pumpkins and then Dayton got to paint a face on it.

Grandchildren are so much fun!

fun times with grandma
Ryan and Mary Ann were in Utah visiting for about a month until the middle of Feb. (Ryan was doing auditing work for Questar). We didn't get to see him much, but we loved seeing his lovely wife and cute kids.  It was fun to get our first two grandaughters together.  Afton and Hallie are going to be great pals.  Jackson and Dayton had great times together also.

Jeremy Michael's birth

Jeremy Michael Ahlstrom

Shane and Kim had their baby yesterday morning, Feb. 8, 2011 at 5:55 a.m.  His name is Jeremy Michael Ahlstrom.  He was 7 lbs.7 ozs and 19 1/2 ins.   Kim had a quick delivery.  They drove to Timpanogos Hospital at 3:30 a.m. and she was dialated to almost 8.  The nurses hurried around to get everything ready.   She only had to push for about 40 minutes.  Jeremy is a beautiful baby!

Family Togetherness

The Ahlstrom Family Jan 2011
Afton and Hallie
We have enjoyed having Ryan and Mary Ann here for four weeks while Ryan is auditing Questar here in Salt Lake City, Utah.  He has been super busy though and works many long hours.  We did get together for a Sunday dinner with the whole family including the two newest granddaughers on Jan16, 2011.  What fun it is to have the whole family together.  The three grandsons have the most fun.  They just loves playing with their grandpa.  We are missing Dave because he was taking the picture.  Thanks Dave!  Carly is holding the newest little one, Hallie.  Jackson, Grant and Dayton are enjoying the new quilt Shane and Kim made for their baby.

Does Hallie look more like her Mom or her Dad ?

The proud grandparents, Doug and Julie.  Hallie in a four generation picture with Louine Shields, great grandma, Julie, grandma and mother Jamie Harper, mother.

Jamie and Dave had their baby! Hallie Ann Harper was born Jan. 6, 2011 at 2:55 p.m.   She was 8 lbs. 12 ozs and 20 inches long.  She has lots of dark hair and a just a darling baby.  Jamie invited Melinda and I to be there for the birth.  It was very special to involved in the wonderful process of birth. Jamie did so well and I was amazed at how nice the labor was with an epidural.  Melinda's nursing instincts kicked in and she was interested in the whole process.
